Norwich are on the brink of a return to the Premier League and Sheffield United are close to joining them after Leeds lost 2-0 at Brentford in the Sky Bet Championship.

Only a minor miracle - Leeds need to find six points and ten goals on Norwich in the final two matches - will stop the Canaries from becoming a Premier League side next season even after Daniel Farke's side were held to a 2-2 draw at Stoke.

Second-placed United, easy 3-0 winners at Hull, realistically need three more points to join Norwich in the top flight and they are at home to relegated Ipswich on Saturday before heading to Stoke on the final day.

Derby moved up into the playoff positions with two injury-time goals in a 2-0 win over QPR as the Rams took advantage of away defeats for Middlesbrough at Nottingham Forest and Bristol City at Sheffield Wednesday.

Leaders Luton are expected to go up from League One but the race is on for the second automatic promotion spot after Sunderland suffered a major blow following a 1-1 draw at Peterborough.

Matt Godden's last-gasp equaliser for Posh means Sunderland are four points behind second-placed Barnsley with a game in hand. The Tykes beat Plymouth 3-0, although it's third-placed Portsmouth who have promotion in their own hands, trailing Barnsley by two points with a game more to play.

Pompey are away to Sunderland on Saturday and the picture should become much clearer after that encounter.

It's all clear in the League Two title race as Lincoln, who were 9-1 ante-post, claimed top spot following a 0-0 draw against Tranmere.

Bury are up to second thanks to a 3-1 success over Northampton but fellow promotion hopefuls Mansfield lost at Oldham 3-2 and MK Dons were held to a 1-1 draw by Port Vale.

Only goal difference separates Mansfield and MK Dons in the battle for the last automatic promotion slot and the sides meet in Milton Keynes on the final day.

A goalless draw for Leyton Orient at Solihull Moors has put the east London outfit on the verge of a place back in the Football League.

Nearest challengers Salford have to make up three points and an inferior goal difference of five on the final day to deny Orient the National League title.
