Match preview

Manchester United have been handed the plum draw in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and it is difficult to see League One Charlton gaining anything from their trip to Old Trafford.

United have started to look the part under Erik ten Hag and although he is set to ring the changes, the Red Devils, who have won their last seven matches, should gain a semi-final place with little trouble.

Charlton have shown a bit of life under new boss Dean Holden with victories over Portsmouth and Lincoln in their last two outings, but they progressed to this stage by shutting up shop against Brighton and scraping through on penalties.

They posed little threat in 120 minutes against the Seagulls and it is difficult to see them making their mark here, especially as that win at Fratton Park was just their second away league success of the campaign.

The Addicks look likely to be overwhelmed and United should win with a bit in hand.

Key stat

Manchester United have won nine and drawn one of their last ten games at Old Trafford.
