Match preview

Andy Butler's honeymoon period is well and truly over at Doncaster and their poor form shows no sign of ending at home to League One rivals Charlton.

The exits of star man Ben Whiteman and respected gaffer Darren Moore have ushered in a tricky period for Rovers.

Butler won his first two matches as interim boss, including a 2-1 success over promotion rivals Portsmouth, but injuries have started to bite and they are without a win in five. Their real issue is up front – they have failed to score in four of their last five games.

Doncaster's slide is coinciding with the resurgence of many of their promotion rivals, among them Charlton who will arrive feeling bullish.

They are also under new management but they may well have struck gold with Nigel Adkins, who took Southampton from League One to the Premier League a decade ago.

Adkins has had only one match at the helm since Lee Bowyer's exit, a promising 2-2 draw at Wimbledon. It's expected that Adkins will tinker with personnel less than Bowyer did and the feeling in the camp is a positive.

The Addicks are on a five-match unbeaten run and haven't lost any of their last six on the road, a sequence which includes four clean sheets.

Where Donny are suffering with injuries Charlton have been getting players fit again and look poised to finish the stronger of the two sides.

Key stat

Doncaster are joint-bottom of the 12-match League One form table.
