Birmingham looked relegation-bound when Aitor Karanka was sacked last month but they have averaged two points per game under Lee Bowyer and can guarantee Championship survival with a win at Derby.
Bowyer has revived the Blues' fortunes by making them tougher to beat and adding a significant goal threat by trusting Lukas Jutkiewicz as the starting centre-forward.
The Blues have racked up four clean sheets in their last five matches and Jutkiewicz has popped up with key contributions at the other end, scoring the opener in a 2-1 victory at home to Reading and bagging a brace in the 2-0 success over Stoke.
While Birmingham look revitalised, fourth-bottom Derby are at serious risk of relegation after losing their last four games.
Wayne Rooney's side are the lowest scorers in the division and, if they fail to break down Birmingham, they could be heading for a 23rd league defeat of the campaign.
