Defeat at Burnley puts Cardiff on brink of relegation from Premier League
Brighton still in danger after crushing 5-0 home defeat to Bournemouth
Cardiff edged closer to a return to the Sky Bet Championship after their 2-0 defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor and the Bluebirds are 1-16 to be relegated from the Premier League.
Their only realistic hope of escaping the drop is a dramatic collapse from Brighton. The Seagulls are 14-1, and as short as 8-1, to go down after their 5-0 home defeat to Bournemouth.
The Cherries kicked off the game as 12-5 shots but romped to an emphatic victory with goals from Dan Gosling, Ryan Fraser, David Brooks, Callum Wilson and Junior Stanislas. Anthony Knockaert was sent off for Brighton.
Like Burnley, Southampton claimed a victory that should secure their top-flight status, beating Wolves 3-1 at St Mary's.
Relegated Fulham pulled off a 4-1 shock with their 2-0 home win over Everton but Huddersfield, the other team already guaranteed to go down, were thumped 4-0 at Tottenham.
In the absence of the injured Harry Kane, Lucas Moura stole the show for Spurs, scoring a hat-trick after Victor Wanyama had given the top-four challengers the lead.
Tottenham are 1-6 to finish in the top four while Manchester United, who beat West Ham 2-1 at Old Trafford thanks to two Paul Pogba penalties, are 13-5.
Ipswich will be playing in Sky Bet League One next season after a 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham confirmed their relegation from the Championship. The Tractor Boys had been 7-2 third-favourites for the drop at the start of the season.
Also heading to the third tier are Lincoln, who sealed promotion from League Two thanks to a 1-1 draw at home to Cheltenham. Danny Cowley's side had been 5-2 in the antepost promotion betting.
