DC United v New York Red Bulls
1am Wednesday night

DC United take on New York Red Bulls as two of the league’s original adversaries face off in Major League Soccer's Rivalry Week.

The hosts are fourth in the Eastern Conference, just one place and one point above the visiting Red Bulls.

Ben Olsen’s side have lost only one of their last nine at home in the league and will look to return to winning ways at Audi Field having been defeated 1-0 away at Vancouver Whitecaps last time out.

Derby-bound DC United captain Wayne Rooney will be hoping, despite the short turnaround, to add to his 11 goals and seven assists this season. His efforts should be boosted by the potential return of attacking midfielder Luciano Acosta to the starting line-up.

Bookmakers have struggled to separate the teams and the Red Bulls will travel to Washington confident of getting a result against a side they have lost to only once since the start of the 2015 season.

Their hopes may be dampened by the absence of injured top scorer Ben White. However, the Red Bulls have a ready-made replacement in MLS stalwart Bradley Wright-Phillips who has scored more than 100 goals in the league.

DC United have drawn four of their last seven home games and it would not be surprising if they chalked up another. In that time the home side have conceded 13 goals and, given the Red Bulls have scored in all but one of their last eight away games, a score draw looks a likely outcome.
