DC United should bounce back on home turf

New England have been revolutionised since Bruce Arena took the reins in Foxborough, though they are still hard to fancy in the capital against something of a bogey side for them.

The Revs have lost on each of their last seven trips to Audi Field and they will need to play well to unpick United’s renowned teak-tough defence.

Last week’s 2-1 win at Colorado made it seven unbeaten for New England, though the Rapids are the worst team in the Western Conference.

That said, players are buying into what Arena is trying to do and their results have been impressive.

This, though, is a major test. DC are second in the East and desperate to right some wrongs following last week’s 2-0 loss at Dallas.

Back on home turf where they haven’t failed to find the net since April, they are a different challenge altogether.

All eyes will be on Wayne Rooney, scorer of ten MLS goals and six in his last nine in all competitions.

And DC will be that much stronger than they were in the Lone Star State a week ago with Paul Arriola back from Gold Cup duty.

Goals aren’t plentiful in DC United matches – their games average 2.3 – but they’ll expect to break down opponents who have managed just one clean sheet in their last 11 outings.
