Match preview

England have been suffering a World Cup hangover ever since their fourth-placed finish in France and the Lionesses were probably flattered by last summer's semi-final appearance.

Phil Neville's team shone in patches, cruising through the group stage and dismantling Norway in the quarters, but they were fortunate to beat Cameroon 3-0 and looked a class beneath the elite during defeats to the USA and Sweden.

Neville has since struggled to get the best from a squad dotted with quality and, while the England manager can point to the absence of star names Jill Scott and Ellen White in recent matches, his dependence on a few key players reads as poorly as a record of one win in seven.

The Lionesses have conceded 13 goals and kept just one clean sheet in those seven games and they will again come under pressure against a Czech side who have cut loose against a couple of minnows and scored in their defeat to Spain during their Euro 2021 qualifiers.

With captain Steph Houghton and Alex Greenwood missing from the defence for this trip to Ceske Budejovice, along with striker White, an England team lacking confidence may struggle to stand firm.

Key stat

Czech Republic have scored 12 goals in three Euro 2021 qualifiers.
