There does not appear to be a great deal between Panama and Jamaica so it could pay to take a chance on the higher-ranked outsiders causing a minor upset in the first game of the Concacaf Gold Cup quarter-final double-header in Pittsburgh.

The Fifa mathematicians presumably see Jamaica as the value bet with the Reggae Boyz 54th in their rankings while Panama are 75th. That list, however, is slightly flawed as Panama are being punished for reaching the World Cup finals and taking on bigger challenges.

With their tougher schedule, Panama have won only three of their last 23 matches and two of those came in this Gold Cup against Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana before a much-changed side lost to USA's reserves in their final group contest.

This test is a step up on Panama's two earlier victories and they may struggle as they attempt to cope with a raft of retirements following last year's World Cup debut.

Jamaica look strong defensively and Theodore Whitmore's side have the star quality of Bayer Leverkusen's Leon Bailey to potentially tip a tight tie in their favour.

The second match sees a rested USA facing Curacao with the hosts understandably long odds-on to complete the task in regulation time.

USA have not conceded a goal in the competition and minnows Curacao have been outshot 61-21 (22-8 on target) despite squeezing through to the last eight.

Recommendation
Jamaica draw no bet
