Manchester United were priced up as no-hopers for their derby clash at the Etihad and the 8-1 outsiders were outclassed as Manchester City claimed a convincing 3-1 victory.

The Citizens are 2-7 to retain their Premier League title while United are out to 7-2 to finish in the top four.

David Silva, a 9-1 shot to open the scoring, gave the dominant Citizens an early lead and Sergio Aguero struck just after the break.

Anthony Martial’s penalty briefly gave United hope but Ilkay Gundogan added a deserved third goal to reward backers of a 3-1 home win at 10-1.

Bet365 make City 11-2 to remain unbeaten in the league and 11-8 to eclipse last season’s record tally of 106 goals.

Bookmakers have been taking a pounding when the big six meet the rest of the Premier League this season but there was some respite for layers when 4-9 Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal also had a frustrating day and the 8-11 shots needed a late equaliser from Henrikh Mkhitaryan to claim a 1-1 draw at home to Wolves.

Liverpool went off just 1-9 to beat bottom club Fulham but were given the odd scare on their way to a 2-0 victory at Anfield.

The visitors – 30-1 outsiders – were on the wrong end of a tight offside call as Aleksandar Mitrovic’s header was ruled out before a lightning-quick Liverpool counter-attack ended with Mohamed Salah putting them in front less than 20 seconds later.

Xherdan Shaqiri added a second for the Reds but the 2-0 correct score meant a winning bet for backers of under 2.5 goals at 3-1.

Liverpool are 4-1 second-favourites for the title with Chelsea out to 20-1 and Tottenham 40-1.

Real Betis pulled off a 14-1 shock in La Liga with a 4-3 win over Barcelona at Camp Nou. In the Ladbrokes Premiership Rangers thrashed Motherwell 7-1 while leaders Celtic were held to a 0-0 draw at Livingston.
