Cincinnati's early surge has petered out but they can regain confidence by taking maximum points against Real Salt Lake.

The 2019 expansion outfit are on a run of three successive matches without a win, losing to highflying duo Philadelphia Union and Los Angeles FC either side of a draw with Sporting Kansas City.

But the results do not tell the full story and they were far from disgraced in their most recent assignment, a 2-0 defeat to LAFC.

Cincinnati created multiple chances, mustering seven shots against the MLS leaders. They kept them at bay for long periods, only for an added-time strike from Carlos Vela to seal the points for the Californian outfit.

They have beaten established MLS sides in Colorado and Portland this term, keeping clean sheets in both games, and the nucleus of their side could unsettle any opponents.

Darren Mattocks and Fanendo Adi have plenty of MLS experience and it is only a matter of time before they are notching regularly.

Real Salt Lake are not to be dismissed. They landed a conference semi-finals berth in 2018 and have retained last term's two top scorers, Damir Kreilach and Albert Rusnak.

Only three of their 14 regular-season wins came on the road in 2018, though, and a buoyant Nippert Stadium is unlikely to provide the Claret & Cobalt with their first away victory of the campaign.

Recommendation
Cincinnati
