Lack of firepower could mean goals are at a premium

Guangzhou Evergrande have been uneasy in the market for their trip to Shanghai Shenhua and it could be a tricky test for the odds-on visitors despite the gap between them in the Chinese Super League table.

There are already 22 points between the sides after only 14 matches, so clearly Fabio Cannavrao's outfit deserve to be favourites, while they are also still going strong in the Asian Champions League following a penalty shootout success over Shandong Luneng last Tuesday.

Paulinho was the Guangzhou hero, scoring in the first half and then again in extra-time before the penalties, but it was the sixth time in ten away trips this season that Cannavaro's side were involved in an away match with under 2.5 goals in 90 minutes.

The injured Anderson Talisca is being missed - he has scored seven times in 682 Super League minutes this season - and fellow foreigners Jackson Martinez and Ricardo Goulart have departed the club.

Defensively, however, former Everton centre-back Tyias Browning is unlikely to be overly stretched by Quique Sanchez Flores's hosts.

Shanghai Shenhua's last four matches have produced just five goals and they don't possess much firepower with striker Odion Ighalo away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Given the final-third issues for both teams it may pay to take a chance on under 2.5 goals at 13-10.

Recommendation
Under 2.5 goals
