National League matches start at 7.45pm Tuesday

If Chester wanted to fly under the radar a little in the National League this season then giving 22 of their rivals a one-game start was ideal.

While most of the fifth-tier kicked off their campaigns on Saturday, City were left kicking their heels after their scheduled opener at Solihull was called off due to safety concerns at the Midlands ground.

While the hassle will not have been welcome, it does mean that Chester go into Tuesday night’s home opener against AFC Fylde fully fired-up to impress, and without any wear and tear.

Fylde went off quietly-fancied eighth favourites in their first season at this level but didn’t get the dream start they craved as they were held 2-2 at home by Boreham Wood.

Chester put in some decent pre-season results and can be fancied to get their first win on the board against the Coasters.

Title favourites Tranmere drew 0-0 at Torquay but are 2-5 to record their first win of the season at home to Woking.
