Match preview
Charlton can look forward to a brighter future after a buyout of the club was confirmed on Friday but recent results have dipped due to an injury crisis and another defeat could be inflicted by Sheffield Wednesday at the Valley.
The mood in the stands will be better than it is been for several years because the vast majority of supporters are overjoyed to see the back of former owner Roland Duchatelet.
But any amount of noise may not be enough to lift a squad depleted by the absence of at least 11 senior players.
Addicks manager Lee Bowyer is without influential on-loan Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is suspended, while Erhun Oztumer (foot) is the only one of 11 injured players who has a chance of featuring this weekend.
Bowyer has been left with a threadbare, lop-sided squad, top-heavy with defenders and desperately short of midfielders and attackers.
Given the constraints he did well to get a competitive performance in a 2-1 defeat at Luton on Tuesday, but the loss of Gallagher, his top scorer with six goals, makes the task much more difficult.
It all adds up to a fantastic opportunity for Wednesday to end a run of five games without a win.
Garry Monk's side have not been playing badly and won the shot count 25 to seven in Wednesday's 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham.
The Owls have had a day's less rest since their midweek game but Monk has the luxury of making the odd change if he needs to freshen things up.
His team are only four points adrift of the playoffs and look solid favourites to return to South Yorkshire with a victory.
Key stat
Charlton have not won any of their last six matches.
