Team news
Charlton
Lyle Taylor, Chris Solly and David Davis left the club when their contracts expired at the end of June. Adam Matthews and Tomer Hemed are doubts after missing the Cardiff trip with knocks and Lewis Page remains sidelined.
Millwall
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson is out for two weeks and Mason Bennett (back) is doubtful after going off at half-time against Swansea.
Match preview
Charlton's hopes of avoiding relegation from the Sky Bet Championship have been boosted by three straight clean sheets since the resumption of the season and another tight contest looks likely when they host south London rivals Millwall.
Lee Bowyer's Addicks followed up vital 1-0 wins over survival rivals Hull and mid-table QPR with a dogged 0-0 draw at playoff-chasing Cardiff in midweek.
Their attacking threat has been reduced by the departure of top goalscorer Lyle Taylor, whose contract expired at the end of June, but they have shown plenty of resilience as they battle to stay in the second division.
Charlton's defensive improvement, coupled with Millwall's lack of creative spark, points to a low-scoring encounter at The Valley and backing one or both teams not to score looks the best approach.
That bet would have copped in six of Millwall's last seven away games, three of which finished goalless, and Lions boss Gary Rowett admitted that his team are lacking zest up front.
Speaking after Tuesday's 1-1 draw at home to Swansea, in which goalscorer Mason Bennett went off with a sore back, Rowett said: "We haven't got loads of energy at the top end of the pitch and that was a bit of an issue."
The draw with the Swans followed a stalemate at relegation-threatened Barnsley and a 3-2 home defeat to Derby, meaning that Millwall have won only two of their last 12 league matches.
Both teams have scored in just four of those games and only one of Charlton's last nine league outings.
Given that this is the third game in seven days for two smallish squads, a scrappy encounter looks likely and correct-score punters may be tempted by the 7-1 about no goalscorer.
Key stat
Three of Millwall's last seven away games have ended 0-0.
