The National League has been full of surprises this season but it may pay to trust the standings and back second-placed Dover at odds-against to win on the road at basement boys Torquay.

Dover had to replace almost their entire team this summer but after a few early wobbles they have started to perform to a consistently high standard.

Manager Chris Kinnear has recruited extremely well and his new-look side should get even better as the season progresses.

Dover have lost just one of their last eight fixtures and should have a spring in their step after Tuesday night's 2-2 draw at promotion rivals Sutton.

Defender Manny Parry popped up with an injury-time goal to secure the point but three more will be the target against Torquay, who have been rooted to the foot of the table since August.

Torquay have played better since appointing former Sunderland player Gary Owers as manager last month and achieved their first win of the season on Tuesday, winning 4-0 at home to Maidenhead.

Such a convincing win will have boosted the Gulls' confidence but their task was made easier by the travel difficulties of Maidenhead, who had endured a nightmare seven-hour journey to get to the venue.

Dover, a fifth-tier club since August 2014, should be better used to the travel demands and have a good chance of posting their fifth away win of the season.

Woking are another side to have benefited from a summer squad revamp and look overpriced to beat fellow high-flyers Dagenham and Redbridge at Kingfield.

The Cards are up to third after taking 13 points from the last 15 and can stun the fourth-placed Daggers, who have gone six games without a win on the road.
