Preview

Viktoria Plzen returned to the pinnacle of Czech football last season, landing their first domestic league title since 2017-18, and they can make a strong start to Champions League qualifying by defeating HJK Helsinki in Finland.

Plzen enter Champions League qualifying at the second-round stage, as was the case in the 2020-21 when they were beaten 3-1 on aggregate by AZ Alkmaar.

They have landed a more attractive draw this time, because HJK look one of the weakest teams left in the competition.

HJK have lost their last three Champions League second-qualifying- round ties and are likely to be facing a deficit when heading to Plzen for next Tuesday's second leg.

Olympiakos have accumulated vast Champions League experience and should have too much knowhow for Maccabi Haifa in Israel.

The Greek champions have contested two of the last the Champions League group phases and look a level above Maccabi, who were knocked out by Kazakh outfit Kairat Almaty in last season's qualifying campaign.
