Benfica have had a miserable time in the Champions League this season but can put their first points on the board by beating CSKA Moscow in the Russian capital.

Despite failing to earn a point from their first four matches, Benfica still have a small chance of finishing third.

Their run of defeats started with a 2-1 reverse to CSKA in Lisbon on matchday one – an outcome which was harsh on Benfica, who won the shot count 24 to 15 and carved out a 65 per cent share of possession.

CSKA added another three points with a 2-1 success at Basel last month but have lost both of their home games by an aggregate score of six goals to one.

The Russian champions are probably better suited to playing on the counter-attack and they could be upstaged by a Benfica side with a point to prove.
