Analysis

The Bundesliga title race is wide open with Bayern Munich down in an unfamiliar fifth place, seven points behind leaders RB Leipzig going into Wednesday night's matches.

Bookmakers still make Bayern odds-on favourites, yet Julian Nagelsmann's Leipzig side have put together an impressive run of six wins and a draw since losing at Freiburg at the end of October, scoring 28 goals in the process. Borussia Dortmund should also not be ruled out as they have only two defeats all season and the second-best defensive record in the league.

With just nine points on the board and a Wednesday night trip to high-flying Monchengladbach, Paderborn look set for relegation but the six teams above them in the table are in a survival scrap too.

Mainz have lost ten of their 16 matches this season and have a terrible defensive record, while Fortuna Dusseldorf have also fallen down the table, losing four of their last five games.
