Match preview

Brazil’s tour of Singapore features friendlies against two of Africa’s most esteemed footballing nations and the star-studded Samba Stars should kick off their double-header with a victory over Senegal.

Tite’s charges lock horns with Sadio Mane’s Lions of Teranga at the National Stadium in Kallang before squaring up against Nigeria on Sunday.

Brazil look so far superior to both African opponents that it would be a disappointment were they to slip up in either game.

Brazil won their first Copa America title in 12 years in July and despite all of their attacking assets, a stubborn defence has been the platform to their success.

They conceded just once in six matches on their way to Copa glory, overcoming Paraguay on penalties after a goalless draw and defeating bitter rivals Argentina 2-0 at the semi-final stage.

Quite remarkably, the South American champions have kept clean sheets in 21 of their last 28 matches in all competitions and that should ensure a low-scoring affair against a Senegal side who find goals hard to come by.

Aliou Cisse’s crew made the final of July’s Africa Cup of Nations despite scoring more than once in only two of their seven matches.

Six of those seven games rewarded backers of under 2.5 goals and Senegal limped to 1-0 wins over Uganda, Benin and Tunisia.

More is required from the Lions of Teranga against Brazil's formidable frontline but a spine featuring Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and PSG's Idrissa Gueye means they are no soft touch and should keep the scoreline respectable.
