Bluebirds can bounce back by silencing Sutton

Barrow's National League playoff push has faltered with just two victories in eight games in 2017 but the eighth-placed Bluebirds can return to winning ways by defeating Sutton at Holker Street.

There are still plenty of incentives for Barrow, who are five points outside of the top five.

They have taken 32 points from 16 home games and their strong home performance could be important because three of the top five have to travel to the Cumbrian coast before the end of the season.

Sutton make the long trip buoyed by back-to-back victories away to Torquay (3-2) and at home to Boreham Wood (1-0) which have substantially eased their relegation fears.

But United's midweek victory at Boreham Wood came at a cost with centre-back Simon Downer and midfielder Craig Eastmond picking up yellow cards which have triggered two-game bans.

Sutton carry a small squad and losing two key men before a tough away game is far from ideal.

Barrow have not been playing at their best but are likely to take advantage of Sutton's weakened state.

Forest Green are back in the title race after three wins in four games but their mini-revival could end with a failure to defeat Macclesfield in Gloucestershire.

Rovers are odds-on to win the game but have won slightly less than half (47 per cent) of their home league games this season.

They needed two late goals from recent signing Omar Bugiel (in the 88th minute and injury-time) to win 4-3 at home to relegation-threatened Woking last weekend and are likely to face a tougher game against the Silkmen, who are resilient on the road.

Only the top three have a better away record than Macclesfield, who should be backed to take at least a point.
