Blackpool pose threat to Pilgrims in open division

There is no stand-out team in Sky Bet League Two where Plymouth, in second, have lost the same number of games as 11th-placed Blackpool.

Watching pretty average sides such as Exeter and Stevenage storm up the table shows what can happen and what Blackpool will be hoping unfolds if they start turning draws into wins.

Gary Bowyer’s Lancastrians have drawn eight of their last 12 – if just half of those had been converted into victories then they would be sixth in the table.

Plymouth boss Derek Adams admitted to being impressed with Blackpool earlier in the season and they get another chance to catch the Argyle chief’s eye at Home Park.

Plymouth, who snapped a four-game winless streak by beating Carlisle on Saturday, are clear favourites but, in this most open of divisions, decent travellers Blackpool are worth siding with – at least with the draw as a safety net.

Blackpool’s only defeat in their last ten league matches was against Portsmouth and they were excellent in the 3-1 weekend win over Morecambe. Midfielder Brad Potts, an enigmatic talent, had one of his good days and hopefully he can back it up.

Fulham v Leeds
Chris Wood, the hottest striker in the Championship, can ensure that Leeds come away from Craven Cottage with something in their massive playoff clash.

The giant Kiwi striker has got 25 goals for the season and 11 in his last 11 in the league.

Wood is in the form of his life and his goals have catapulted Garry Monk’s men into the top six of the division.

The Whites have bagged ten points from their last 12 and Wood scored twice in their most recent triumph – Friday night’s 3-1 win at Birmingham – to make it six victories in their last 11 away league games.

Fulham are going just as well under Slavisa Jokanovic and this could well be a tight encounter. But a star goal-getter can make the difference in such a fixture and Leeds possess one in Wood, although the visitors might be worth backing with the draw-no-bet safeguard.

Walsall v Chesterfield
Walsall have won five home League One matches in a row – the first a 4-1 drubbing of leaders Sheffield United – and can make it six at home to Chesterfield.

Don’t be duped by Chesterfield’s 1-0 win at Swindon, just their second since Christmas. They were utterly devoid of ideas at the County Ground and fired in just one effort on target.

Indeed, since a 5-2 defeat at Peterborough on December 10, they’ve managed to score just six times in 15 games and never more than one goal in a match.
