Big Sam did not deserve to get boot

Sam Allardyce was manager for England’s first World Cup qualifier but will not be manager for their second on Saturday against Malta. He fell for a newspaper sting and left last week. He was manager for only one match.

I feel sorry for Allardyce, not England. It doesn’t matter who manages England, results are the same. Allardyce wanted the job, though, and no Englishman was better qualified. It should have been the high point of his career.

I still do not understand why Allardyce had to go. I sense that puts me in a small minority. All the more reason, I feel, for me to say so and explain why.
