Mid-table Ayacucho have lost three of their last four Peruvian top-flight games to slide into the bottom half, but they can finish their 2019 Apertura campaign on a high by winning at home to struggling Deportivo San Martin.

Home advantage could be key because Ayacucho are usually tough to beat at the Ciudad de Cumana, which is more than 9,000 feet above sea level.

Deportivo have a poor away record – they have taken just two points from eight road trips this season – and they are unlikely to be properly acclimatised to conditions at the Andean venue, where they have not triumphed on their last seven visits.

They are the second-lowest scorers in the division and could be without Argentinian centre-forward Marcelo Olivera, who was forced off with an injury just seven minutes into a 0-0 draw at home to Deportivo Municipal last week.

Olivera is Deportivo USMP's top scorer this season with three goals and if he misses out they could be even more toothless than usual.

Scoring goals should not be a problem for Ayacucho, whose attack is spearheaded by prolific veteran striker Mauricio Montes.

The 36-year-old seems to be getting better with age and had has best season last term, netting 22 goals in 43 appearances.

This season Montes has bagged seven in 15 matches for Ayacucho, who are attractively priced at odds-against to win to nil.

Recommendation
Ayacucho win to nil
