Henrik Larsson began his second spell as Helsingborg manager with an encouraging 1-0 victory away to Orebro but things may not go his way again when his charges visit mid-table Elfsborg.

Getting off to a good start was vital for Larsson, who inherited a side in the midst of a relegation scrap.

The three points lifted Helsingborg out of the relegation playoff place but there is plenty more work to do.

Helsingborg went into the Orebro fixture on a nine-match winless sequence, prompting the owners to relieve head coach Per-Ola Ljung of his duties and call for Larsson, who had managed the club between November 2014 and November 2016.

Larsson's first spell ended in relegation and he needs a better outcome this season to get his coaching career moving forward.

His task was made more difficult last week when Helsingborg's top scorer Rasmus Jonsson sealed a transfer to Thailand outfit Buriram United.

Jonsson's exit followed hot on the heels of the departure of Icelandic centre-forward Andri Bjarnason to Kaiserslautern during the mid-season break.

It leaves Helsingborg seriously short of firepower and makes it difficult for them to trouble Elfsborg, who are unbeaten at home this season.

Elfsborg have regressed since winning Swedish titles in 2006 and 2012 but are four points superior to Helsingborg and, given their strong home record, they look worthy favourites.
