National League
Kick-offs 3pm Saturday

Fourth-placed Aldershot are the top scorers at the halfway point in the National League season and their attacking prowess should give them a clear advantage over struggling Halifax at the Recreation Ground.

There are not many better managers in the fifth tier than Shots gaffer Gary Waddock, who was recently linked with a move to Leyton Orient.

Orient opted to appoint Justin Edinburgh, much to the relief of Aldershot fans who are hoping Waddock can lead their club into the Football League for the second time in his career.

Aldershot have been prominent in the promotion race all season, never dropping lower than ninth. They topped the table after a four-match winning sequence in November and picked up a respectable 0-0 draw at improving Torquay last Saturday.

Waddock's men are unbeaten in six home league games and should have few fears about facing 17th-placed Halifax who are without a win in 11 league matches.

The Shaymen have lost on each of their last three road trips and are without top scorer Tom Denton, who serves a one-game ban.

Fylde have an FA Cup second-round replay at Wigan to look forward to on Tuesday but also plenty to play for in the league. They are overpriced to defeat playoff-chasing Boreham Wood at Meadow Park.

Seven points separate eighth-placed Wood from their visitors, who have played two fewer games.

It promises to be a tight game and a value case can be made for Fylde, who have won four of their last five league matches.
