Burton v Derby

Derby experienced painful away defeats against local rivals Burton when the teams competed against each other in the Championship in recent campaigns, but they can gain revenge by defeating the Brewers in this weekend's League One encounter at the Pirelli Stadium.

The Rams have gone through some lean times and their angst increased this year when rivals Nottingham Forest were promoted to the Premier League.

However, they have shown encouraging signs under savvy manager Paul Warne and make the short trip to Staffordshire with the expectation of extending a ten-game unbeaten run.

Derby's last two league games have been goalless draws away to Portsmouth and at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

They won the shot count on both occasions and would hope to show a greater cutting edge against Burton, who have the worst defensive record in the division having conceded 41 goals.

Burton have improved since suffering seven losses in their first eight league games of the season and possess a potent striker in Victor Adeboyejo, who has scored nine league goals this season.

However, Burton's 15-point tally is exactly half of Derby's and the gap is set to increase this weekend.

Millwall v Wigan

Championship playoff chasers Millwall returned to competitive action last weekend with a 3-0 loss at Sunderland, but they should be sharper for the experience and can respond by defeating Wigan at the Den.

Wigan head to south London under new manager Kolo Toure, who was appointed during the World Cup break.

Toure accepted his first managerial role after spending over five years working under Brendan Rodgers in spells at Celtic and Leicester and he claims to have learned a lot from the Foxes boss.

However, he inherits a tough situation with Wigan inside the relegation zone and facing a battle for survival.

The January transfer window could be crucial to Wigan's hopes, because they failed to get their recruitment right in the summer and results have tailed off.

In the meantime Toure must try to achieve as many positive results as possible, but the task against Millwall, who have won seven of ten Championship home games, looks extremely difficult.

Sutton United v Colchester

League Two strugglers Colchester were gutted to concede an injury-time goal in last Saturday's 2-1 loss at Mansfield but they have looked a much-improved side in recent weeks and can avoid defeat against relegation rivals Sutton United at Gander Green Lane.

The Essex side performed well against the Stags and excelled in their previous league match at home to Doncaster, winning 3-0.

They are playing well enough to pick up results on a more consistent basis and can avoid defeat against Sutton, who have won just one of their last eight fixtures.

Swindon v AFC Wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon have climbed into the top half of League Two after taking 17 points from their last seven games and their unbeaten streak can continue when they take on Swindon at the County Ground.

Johnnie Jackson's Wombles have racked up four successive league clean sheets and another shutout can lay the foundation for a positive result against injury-hit Swindon, who have suffered back-to-back defeats.

Coventry's Swedish international striker has netted four goals in his last three matches and has every chance of breaking the deadlock against Reading.
