Tuesday's preview

There are eight cracking first-round World Grand Prix matches for darts fans to enjoy on Tuesday night and Joe Cullen's clash with Damon Heta should be a high-class affair.

Rockstar showcased his ability when winning the Masters and making the final of the Premier League earlier this year. However, the Bradford man is running into an inspired performer, and for all that Cullen is a fantastic player on his day, he failed to win a game at the UK Open and was a second-round loser in the World Matchplay.

Only Michael van Gerwen is putting up better numbers on the Pro Tour than Heta and the Heat was part of a victorious Australian team who lifted the World Cup in June.

The Aussie has recorded a three-dart average of 98.79 across 87 Pro Tour matches this season and consistency coupled with performance levels of that standard are going to lead to a major breakthrough.

It's a brutally short-format in round one of the World Grand Prix but Heta looks good value to put the heat on Cullen.

Michael Smith has lost seven of his nine World Grand Prix first-round matches but Bully Boy can go someway to improving that shoddy record against Nathan Aspinall.

The St Helens arrowsmith has lifted the US Masters, Dutch Championship and three Players Championship titles already this season and the 32-year-old also finished as the World Championship and UK Open runner-up earlier this year.

Smith continues to pump out excellent numbers in floor events, and although Bully Boy is likely to face a stiff challenge from the Asp, it may not be as difficult as offers of 8-11 suggest.
