Saturday's betting preview

Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall met in the final of the Grand Prix a month ago and it looks like we're shaping up for a rematch in the Grand Slam semis on Saturday night.

For that to unfold, Van Gerwen needs to take care of Luke Humphries and The Asp must see off Alan Soutar and while both opponents deserve respect, the favourites look good things.

Humphries, a multiple European Tour winner and odds-on to be in next year's Premier League, has beaten the Dutchman twice this year, including a 7-0 whitewash in Munich in April.

But that was back in the spring. Since the summer MvG has been flying with a trio of major titles pocketed, and watching him produce a near-effortless 107.7 average to see off next big thing Josh Rock – who had to produce a nine-darter for his one and only break – shows that the Green Machine is back to his absolute best.

Even at 14.5 the total maximums line looks to have been set short in the showdown between Aspinall and Soutar.

Their second-round games produced 11 each over 16 and 18 legs, so now we're in best-of-31 territory the sky's the limit.
