Preview

Jose de Sousa almost made a spectacle of himself after ditching the glasses in Salzburg and Luke Humphries should be able to see his way past the Portuguese power scorer in round two of the European Championship.

De Sousa binned the bins against Lewy Williams and rode his luck, his starstruck opponent hitting just 19 per cent of his doubles to gift the Grand Slam champ a 6-4 success.

That won't cut it against Humphries, one of the game's rising stars who is just a consistent streak away from a major breakthrough.

Cool Hand certainly lived up to his nickname at 5-4 down against Callan Rydz in round one, nervelessly winning the last two legs to make it through. He averaged over 94 and is playing well enough to topple De Sousa.

Former world champ Rob Cross continues to protest that he's almost back to his best and there are more then occasional glimpses.

However, he does still look vulnerable too often and he'll get no second chances against super-dependable Brendan Dolan, who was serenity itself when dishing out a 6-2 defeat over Kim Huybrechts on Thursday night.
