Night Seven betting preview

Wales' footballers are in for a massive night in Cardiff and it's also a huge night for the country's two biggest darts stars as they clash in Rotterdam in the Premier League.

Jonny Clayton, top of the table after two rounds, heads into Night Seven having won just once in the last four weeks while opponent Gerwyn Price hasn't fared much better recently.

It's a big game for both men with Michael van Gerwen 3-1 favourite to take the spoils in front of his own fans at the Rotterdam Ahoy.

Peter Wright v James Wade

Head-to-head: 22-22

It's a third meeting of the Premier League campaign for Peter Wright and James Wade, and there are enough question marks over Snakebite's form and fitness to suggest he's a lay.

Wade struck first when these two met in Belfast on Night Three, a loss Wright avenged seven days later in Exeter.

Since then, Snakey has been bothered by a back injury and gallstones and suffered a pair of first-hurdle falls on the floor at the weekend. He averaged just 81 in defeat to Steve West.

Wade's handy knack of being unfashionable means he remains over-priced for heats like this where, even if both players hold throw throughout, we can collect by backing the leftie on the handicap.

Gary Anderson v Joe Cullen

H2H: Anderson leads 8-4

Joe Cullen, by his own admission, was "rubbish" in Nottingham last week when he crashed to a 6-4 defeat at the hands of Peter Wright.

That doesn't augur well against Gary Anderson, who he lost to on the floor in Barnsley on Saturday and who went on to take the five points at the Motorpoint Arena last Thursday.

Debutant Cullen is now bottom of the table and while it would be easy to suggest he's now going to vanish without trace, he's better than that. And Anderson, as impressive as he was last week, can easily throw in a howler.

Jonny Clayton v Gerwyn Price

H2H: Price leads 12-8

All's not well in the Jonny Clayton camp at the moment. The Ferret was top after week two but has won just once in four Premier League dates since then, and needs to turn it around.

He has won three of his last four showdowns with friend, rival and World Cup partner Gerwyn Price but that was before he embarked on this sticky patch.

Price's hand injury was a concern last week and he didn't throw his best in defeat to Michael Smith in the semis – though at least he made the semis so clearly wasn't in that bad nick. He did not, however, bowl up at Barnsley over the weekend. Clayton did and threw a mixed bag.

The best bet could be Clayton to average under 96.5. He's averaging 95.5 for the tournament and hasn't cleared 92.7 in the past two weeks.

Michael van Gerwen v Michael Smith

H2H: Van Gerwen leads 34-9

MvG has beaten Michael Smith 6-2 in a semi-final and 6-4 in a final during the current Premier League campaign, merely extending his dominance over Bully Boy.

No wonder the Dutchman, who will be roared on by a passionate home crowd, is such a short price.

One bet that does appeal is Van Gerwen on the 180s handicap. He out-maxed Smith when they first met and boasts a tournament-high 34 180s so far. Van Gerwen averages one every 3.11 legs. Smith averages a max every 3.07 legs, not enough of an advantage to suggest he should be odds-on to prevail.
