Premier League darts night 11: tips, betting previews and TV details
Cross v Wright | Price v Suljovic | Wade v Gurney | Smith v Van Gerwen
TV: Sky Sports Action, 7pm Wednesday
Rob Cross v Peter Wright
Head-to-head: Cross leads 8-5
The darts Premier League rocks up in Beatles country where nowhere man Peter Wright needs help if he’s going to earn a ticket to ride into the playoffs.
Snakebite has arrived in Liverpool on the back of five matches without a win and it promises to be a hard day’s night against in-form Rob Cross.
Wright, tinkering with his equipment once again, suffered two first-round exits in Pro Tour events over the weekend, hot on the heels of a 7-7 draw against Michael Smith last Thursday night when he averaged around 90. That was his third sub-91 average in a row. Wright has failed to win on his last five trips to what used to be known as the Echo Arena.
Voltage is a 5-6 chance but looks to be worth chancing giving up 2.5 legs on the handicap. He’s got to break to win and if he does (and since he’s throwing first) he should prevail by at least three legs.
Recommendation
R Cross -2.5

Gerwyn Price v Mensur Suljovic
H2H: Price leads 10-4
The layers just prefer Gerwyn Price over Mensur Suljovic in match two and the Welshman boasts a winning record against his opponent.
The first meeting between the two – a 7-3 win for Price in Aberdeen – was a scrappy affair and Gezzy’s finishing was the difference.
Price is also favourite to hit most 180s in a match where the bookies foresee 6.5 maximums. Both are hard to dispute.
James Wade v Daryl Gurney
H2H: Wade leads 5-4
James Wade had a birthday to remember on Saturday, turning 36 with a win in a Pro Tour event. He thumped Michael Smith in the final.
Wade is all about confidence and that success will have done him the power of good going into his showdown with Daryl Gurney.
Superchin failed to deal with the pressure of playing in front of his home crowd in Belfast last week, subsiding to an 8-4 loss at the hands of Rob Cross. And, of course, he was battered 7-0 by Wade a few weeks earlier in Aberdeen.
Gurney looks a stronger competitor now though you’d still think Wade’s solidness could prove the key.
Recommendation
J Wade

Michael Smith v Michael van Gerwen
H2H: Van Gerwen leads 27-6
World finalists Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith kicked off the 2019 Premier League with a sub-standard match which went the distance, Mighty Mike coming out on top 7-5.
That means Van Gerwen has won all five Premier League clashes against Bully Boy.
But Smith, in desperate need of points, played well at the weekend with four ton-plus averages en route to a Pro Tour final.
And both men enjoy playing at this arena where each has produced a whitewash, Van Gerwen over Phil Taylor, Smith last year against Raymond van Barneveld.
Van Gerwen isn’t at his peerless best at the moment and Smith can produce enough holds with his power scoring to keep the Dutchman honest.
Recommendation
M Smith +2.5
1pt 5-4 Betway
