Kim Huybrechts, no longer the most hated man in darts (his words) following Gerwyn Price’s grubby Wolverhampton win, can revel in his new-found love by taking care of Steve Beaton in round one of the Players Championship Finals.

The Belgian, like Price, knows how to push Gary Anderson’s buttons, and he also knows how to win big matches.

He may not have had a great year but nor has Beaton and the Hurricane probably doesn’t deserve to be the outsider.

Danny Noppert looked a million dollars when he reached the Lakeside final almost two years ago but defecting to the PDC hasn’t really worked out.

His fleeting appearances in front of the cameras since then have been a major let-down and he’s no good thing against Rowby-John Rodriguez.

The talented young Austrian just missed out on a Grand Slam place – he fell short after beating Vincent van der Voort, Jelle Klaasen and Chris Dobey in qualifying – and can go in at a tasty price.
