Week 14: Sheffield
Sky Sports 2, 7pm Thursday

Peter Wright v Adrian Lewis
Head-to-head: Lewis leads 17-12

Adrian Lewis probably needs to win both his remaining matches to even have a chance of qualifying for the Betway Premier League playoffs, but his form seems to have deserted him at the wrong time.

Jackpot had stormed back into contention after a poor start to the campaign but he has undone all his good work with three straight losses going into Week 14 at the Sheffield Arena.

He lost 7-2 to Peter Wright in a belter earlier in the campaign and Snakebite has won all three meetings between them in 2017.

In that earlier match, however, Lewis averaged a staggering 109 – still ten behind Wright – and they seem to bring out the best in each other. Wright fully deserves to be the odds-on shot but expect Jackpot to give him a real test.

Recommendation
A Lewis average over 98.5

Raymond van Barneveld v Dave Chisnall
H2H: Van Barneveld leads 11-6

Dave Chisnall, like Adrian Lewis, needs a pair of wins and other results to go his way to make it to the O2 on May 18.

A repeat of the performance when he last played Barney would probably get the job done, and he’s certainly playing well enough to land big odds.

That 7-2 success over the Dutchman in Week Five was a rare triumph in a poor first half of the season but he’s finishing in style. He is unbeaten in his last five and is kicking himself for having to settle for draws against Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen having led both matches.

His scoring power is awesome and his checkout percentage has been an excellent 49 per cent over his last five games compared to 34 per cent in his first nine.

While Chizzy gets better, Raymond van Barneveld has been backpedalling. Like Lewis, he enjoyed a mid-season surge but has hit the wall.

James Wade v Gary Anderson
H2H: Anderson leads 28-16

Remarkably, Gary Anderson has won only one of his last seven matches against James Wade. Their earlier meeting in this competition finished 6-6 and the left-hander didn’t even average 90.

Somehow Wade seems to bring Anderson down a notch or two so the Scot’s average line looks too high at 102.5. In none of those previous seven meetings with Wade has Anderson averaged more than 100, never mind 102.5.

Recommendation
G Anderson under 102.5 average

Michael van Gerwen v Phil Taylor
H2H: Taylor leads 31-24

Michael van Gerwen enjoyed another triumphant weekend. Just a couple of days after whitewashing Adrian Lewis in the Premier League, the world number one picked up another floor triumph, chucking in a nine-darter for good measure. It was his sixth title of 2017.

In his current form he should see off The Power for a second time in the competition – he beat Taylor 7-4 in Week Seven. The victory looks assured and since he averages a 180 every 2.9 legs whereas Taylor averages one every 4.7, do the Van Gerwen win and most 180s double.

Recommendation
M van Gerwen & M van Gerwen most 180s
