What is the Icon of Darts?

Proper sport returns on Monday April 6 with the inaugural Icon of Darts live league which will be streamed live on bookmaker websites from 11am.

A series of round-robin leagues will take place daily from Monday to Saturday each week with the overall champion declared on Saturday May 2. The players will compete from home using a webcam and live scoring and match stats will be available through DartConnect.

Each match is best of nine legs. The action continues from 11am on Monday with at least one new player taking to the oche.

Story of Week One

David Evans finished top of the overall table despite Dutch teenage ace Wessel Nijman winning three of the six groups across the week.

The two finished level on points but Evans had the superior leg difference after Nijman could only beat Mark Webster 5-4 in a match which proved crucial. Evans had +29 and Nijman +28.

However, the 19-year-old can take plenty of heart from the fact he nearly had a nine darter against Webster, missing double 12.

Webster finished bottom on eight points with Raymond van Barneveld in fifth spot. Andy Jenkins was fourth and Paul Nicholson claimed third place.
