Preview

Nathan Aspinall almost certainly needs to beat Peter Wright to secure his place in the knockout stages of the Grand Slam in Wolverhampton, and back him to do it on Tuesday.

Both men are struggling at the moment with Wright yet to hit a 90 average in his two Group E showdowns with Fallon Sherrock and Alan Soutar.

Aspinall, meanwhile, lost to Soutar before thrashing Sherrock 5-1 to leave qualification in his hands.

The pressure is on Josh Rock against Luke Humphries in Group H, the kind of pressure he won’t have experienced before.

Rock is clearly a rising star but in Cool Hand he’s playing an arrowsmith at the top of his game, and one who looks a spot of value.

Luke Woodhouse looks backable at 7-5 to hit more 180s than Nathan Rafferty in their Group G finale.

It should be nervy with both men able to qualify, although Woodhouse’s case is far stronger with points on board while Rafferty needs a miracle.

Woody has hit seven 180s in 15 legs, Rafferty six in 14 while on the Pro Tour in 2022, the Englishman averages a maximum every 5.4 legs, the Northern Irishman one every 5.9.
