World Matchplay quarter-finals preview

World Cup partners Danny Noppert and Dirk van Duijvenbode can lay on a Winter Gardens classic on the second night of quarter-final action at the Betfred World Matchplay, with Noppy taken to win and win well.

There's a resurgence in Dutch darts which has seen three quarter-finalists from the Netherlands for the first time since 2010 and Noppert isn't finished yet.

Winner of the UK Open in March, the 31-year-old has taken his major-winning form down the Golden Mile with a pair of red-hot triumphs over Brendan Dolan and Daryl Gurney, averaging over 100 on each occasion.

There's every reason to believe he will average around three figures again, certainly more than the 96.5 the layers have him in for.

Van Duijvenbode has bounced back from a barren year and is also playing well. He too is producing impressive numbers – over 103 against Ryan Searle, and then 98 seeing off Michael Smith, who wasn't at his best.

These compatriots have met twice this year with Noppert winning both times, including a 10-2 hiding handed out in Minehead in the UK Open. A floor winner immediately prior to Blackpool to emphasise his good form, back Noppert to put daylight between them once again.

Gerwyn Price is a strong favourite to see off Jose de Sousa in the other last-eight tie and his improved consistency – never De Sousa's strong suit – should see the Welshman home.
