Friday's betting preview

Michael Smith has already battered Joe Cullen once in this year's Grand Slam of Darts and he can repeat the feat when they meet in the quarter-finals on Friday.

The Premier League rivals met in a Group C clash on Sunday which Smith won 5-1 on his way to topping the section.

Cullen squeezed into the last 16 by finishing second and after each man won their first knockout tie – Smith beat Rob Cross 10-8 and Cullen took down Dirk van Duijvenbode 10-4 – they go again.

Smith, who has won five of his last six match-ups with Cullen, has been throwing beautifully in Wolverhampton and can land the odds. Our tip to back him on the handicap, giving 2.5 legs, against Cross last time out narrowly missed but the same tactic is recommended now that we're in best-of-31 territory so a 16-13 Smith win would suffice.

These two are definitely second on the bill, however, behind Gerwyn Price and Raymond van Barneveld, another repeat of a group game.

Barney delivered against Gezzy when they met on Sunday and the Dutchman hasn't put a foot wrong yet. He's a massive outsider but, given that he will have the crowd right behind him, he is worth supporting on the handicap.
