What is the PDC Home Tour?

The PDC announced a new event to keep sport rolling during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Home Tour event has now reached the second stage and will be streamed on bookmaker websites.

Each session starts at 7.30pm and will see four stars do battle in nightly round-robin groups which are played over the best-of-11 legs. The eight group winners will progress through to the next phase.

That last eight will be two groups of four and the top two in each will provide the four-person Championship group which will determine the overall competition winner.

If all goes to plan on Thursday evening, Group Three of the PDC Home Tour playoffs could be determined by a match between a darts master and a potential heir apparent.

There isn't much two-time world champion Gary Anderson hasn't achieved on the professional oche and the Flying Scotsman was in flying form when easily winning Group 30.

Anderson is the odds-on favourite to take the third spot in the last eight of the Home Tour but threats abound in a tricky section and none look more potent than world youth champion Luke Humphries.

Cool Hand Luke was pipped to top spot by the reopposing Nick Kenny in Group Five of the first phase but the 25-year-old returned with vengeance three weeks later to surge into the playoffs.

Humphries, who has made the quarter-finals of the last two World Championships, averaged in excess of 101 across his three matches to top a decent group including world number five Michael Smith.

Bully Boy was bullied into submission by Humphries in their contest that evening as the youngster posted an astronomical 108.55 average in a 5-2 win.

Humphries' silky, smooth throwing technique seems certain to become a fixture on the big stage in the coming years and he could demonstrate his quality. Jamie Lewis completes the group.
