Friday match preview

Ian 'Diamond' White knocked Michael Smith out of the World Grand Prix in Dublin, but Bully Boy looks worth a bet as a marginal underdog to get his revenge in the European Championship in Germany.

Smith struggled to hit his double starts the last time they met which affected his flow, but that won't be a problem this time and one of the brightest talents in the sport should advance to the second round.

Bully Boy may considering changing his nickname to 'The Bridesmaid' - he has been runner-up in four tournaments this year and lost in the final of the William Hill World Championship in January.

But he put on a good show last weekend, beating James Wade and Gary Anderson and losing to Michael van Gerwen and a red-hot Peter Wright, and he should be confident of doing well in Germany.

Also consider putting three of the big guns in an accumulator.

Nathan Aspinall should be too sharp for the Bronzed Adonis Steve Beaton, while Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price are both in great form and may be on a different level to their respective opponents Jeffrey de Zwaan and Ted Evetts. Backing the treble with Coral works out at around 13-8.
