Preview

Michael van Gerwen has made a couple of sizeable statements storming to the top of Group G in the Grand Slam and he can complete a maximum six-point haul by seeing off John Henderson in his finale.

And accompanying him through to the last 16 should be Joe Cullen, who can sweep aside Lisa Ashton to snatch second spot in the group.

Van Gerwen warmed up for the task of reclaiming a crown he has won three times before with a consummate 5-0 hammering of Ashton with a near-106 average and then averaged over 115 taking down Cullen.

The Dutchman has been beaten by Hendo before but on current form this threatens to be a mismatch and Van Gerwen can win 5-2 or better.

Cullen can replicate that margin of victory against Ashton who, after being well beaten by Van Gerwen, will be disappointed with her comeback against Henderson, when averaging 89 in a 5-2 loss.

Ashton's rival Fallon Sherrock has a better chance of becoming the first female arrowsmith to qualify from the group stage but needs to beat Gabriel Clemens to do so. The German is two out of two in their group and throwing well and Sherrock is probably short enough at around 2-1.
