A blistering century from Colin Munro helped New Zealand take their three-match T20 series with India into a deciding rubber and the Black Caps could seal a series win in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.

Over the last 18 months Kane Williamson's side have been the premier T20 outfit in world cricket, winning 16 of their last 22 outings, a run which has seen them rise to the top of the ICC rankings.

Munro's innings in Rajkot was typical of the way the New Zealanders have approached the game in that time but perhaps more impressive was the control they showed with the ball.

Left-armer Trent Boult claimed four wickets in India's total of 156-7 and four of the six bowlers Williamson used went at under eight runs per over.

To put that in some sort of perspective, three members of India's attack were hit for 13 or more runs per over in their spells.

India of course have a chance with Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in their ranks, but the guile and accuracy shown by the Black Caps bowlers could just give them the edge.

Australia captain Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc warmed up for the upcoming Ashes series in fine style for New South Wales. Starc claimed a hat-trick in a haul of 4-56 against Western Australia while Smith hammered home their side's advantage with an unbeaten half-century.
