Match preview

Reigning T20 world champions West Indies must win their final three Super 12 matches and rely on results elsewhere if they are to continue their title defence, although Bangladesh will fancy putting them out of their misery in Sharjah on Friday.

The Windies have been comprehensively beaten by England - capitulating to 55 all out - and South Africa, who chased down their 144 target on Tuesday for the loss of just two wickets.

Kieron Pollard's squad contains some of the most devastating T20 batters on the planet, himself among them, but rash shots and a lack of game awareness has cost them dear in this tournament.

They wilted in the face of England's spinners in Saturday's opener as Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid combined to take 6-19 from 6.2 overs.

Bangladesh, who are also heading for the exit after two opening defeats, will probably look to England's gameplan as a blueprint for success against the Windies given where the strength of their bowling attack lies.

The Tigers opened with spinners Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan in Sunday's Super 12 to defeat to fellow first-phase qualifiers Sri Lanka, while star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has been opening the bowling for Kolkata in the IPL recently, took the new ball in Wednesday's defeat to England.

The two sides have been fairly evenly matched in T20 meetings - the Windies lead 6-5 - and a chance is taken on Bangladesh in Sharjah on Friday.
