Welsh Fire v Southern Brave preview

Southern Brave went the distance in the men's Hundred last year but their title defence is not going well with the reigning champions having lost four of their opening five matches in the 2022 tournament.

The absences of injured England bowlers Tymal Mills and Chris Jordan have held them back and put more pressure on their batsmen and their 68-run thrashing by Manchester Originals last time out was the biggest margin of defeat of any team in the men's Hundred this year.

The Brave are fancied to beat Welsh Fire, another team in disarray with four losses to their name, but this contest could swing either way and the match market is probably best avoided.

Instead, a more reliable bet could be Southern Brave captain James Vince to score over 22.5 runs at 5-6 with bet365.

Vince is an excellent leader, having spearheaded Hampshire's triumph in the T20 Blast earlier this summer, and even with his side struggling, he has managed to score 123 runs in five matches, meaning he is averaging 24.60 in The Hundred.

In last year's tournament only Liam Livingstone and Ben Duckett scored more runs than Vince, who will be keen to arrest his team's slide.

Southern Brave Women are flying after wins against London Spirit, Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals and English batter Danni Wyatt has played a key role.

There were doubts surrounding the form of Wyatt coming into the tournament but she has bagged 110 runs from 74 balls in The Hundred this year and should continue her fine form against Welsh Fire, who go into the match at Sophia Gardens on a two-match losing run.
