Match previews

This year's T20 World Cup has already thrown up some surprise results but there were no shocks in Monday's Group A openers.

As expected, Namibia lost emphatically by seven wickets against Sri Lanka, while Netherlands lost by the same margin to Ireland.

Punters should expect a gritty contest when the Dutch take on Namibia in Wednesday's first encounter in Abu Dhabi, but there could be fireworks aplenty in the second match as the Irish and Sri Lankans look to seal their spot in the Super 12.

Ireland seamer Curtis Campher became the first player to take four wickets in as many balls at a T20 World Cup on Monday but he could have his work cut out against Sri Lanka batsman Avishka Fernando.

Fernando went into Monday's clash with Namibia following some knocks of 61, 62, 33 and 83 not out and ended the seven-wicket win unbeaten on 30.

Another strong performance can be expected of Sri Lanka's number four against Ireland, whose strength is at the top of the order.
