Big Bash League preview

Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder are the early pacesetters in this season's Big Bash League and sparks could fly when the pair lock horns at the Optus Stadium on Wednesday.

Thunder have been going well with four wins from seven matches but are topped by defending champions Perth, who once again lead the way with five wins from six matches.

In their most recent assignment, the Scorchers held their nerve to edge the Melbourne Renegades by five wickets with only two balls to spare.

Josh Inglis steadied the ship in that game with his side needing 25 runs to win in fewer than three overs and he was named player of the match for his knock of 47 off 34 deliveries.

Inglis has been in fine fettle this season with 234 runs in six BBL innings and he can surpass his runs line of 22.5 with bet365.

Earlier in the day, Sydney Sixers will take on struggling Brisbane Heat, who are bottom of the pile despite beating the Sixers by 15 runs last time out.
