New Zealand are 4-11 to win the first Test against England in Auckland after dismissing Three Lions skipper Joe Root with the final ball of day four to leave the visitors on 132-3 in their second innings and still 237 runs in arrears.

Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson, who made 102 over days one and two, had declared their first innings on 427-8 following the visitors' shambolic 58 all out in under 21 overs in the first session.

Henry Nicholls, who resumed on 52, finished on 145 not out and there were handy cameos from BJ Watling, Colin de Grandhomme, Todd Astle and Tim Southee.

There was little sign of the rain that had blighted days two and three at Eden Park and the forecast is fair for day five in the City of Sails.

England are 9-4 to hold out for a draw with the Kiwis' trio of terrific swing bowlers Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Neil Wagner getting the pink ball to move at much sharper angles than Root's attack.

Boult got Alastair Cook out down the legside early on and dismissed Root for 51 with a snorter the ball after cracking him on the helmet with a bouncer. Wagner snared Mark Stoneman hooking a round-the-wicket lifter on 55.

Dawid Malan returns to the crease on 19 and is 11-8 with bet365 for a fifty and 7-1 for a ton. The firm have chalked up their fourth-wicket runs line at 153.5

Hills offer 5-2 about Boult taking five wickets or more and 7-1 about both Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow hitting fifties.

Ladbrokes have their England second-innings run line at 305.5 and, presuming it is Stokes who joins Malan in the middle, have his personal runs line at 21.5.

Back Boult to complete a five-wicket haul. His 6-32 in the first innings was a second six-for in three Tests at Eden Park and the other was against the Three Lions in 2013.

Four years ago he took 3-38 and 3-86 against India. He starts again fresh in the morning and will get more help under the lights if England survive until the third session.

Recommendation
T Boult to take five or more wickets
