Sydney Thunder v Sydney Sixers preview

Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers have recovered from sluggish starts to the 2022-23 Big Bash and both are in excellent form going into Sunday's derby clash at the Sydney Showground Stadium.

James Vince's unbeaten 91 helped the Sixers record a fifth victory in their last six completed matches as they completed a tense run-chase against Melbourne Stars on Friday, taking them top of the table.

They are narrow favourites to extend their hot streak against the Thunder, who have responded well to their humiliating 15 all out against Adelaide Strikers before Christmas.

They have won their last four games, thumping Brisbane Heat by ten wickets and Hobart Hurricanes by 62 runs during that sequence, and a half-century from Oliver Davies steered them to a comfortable six-wicket win over defending champions Perth Scorchers last time out.

Moustachioed youngster Davies cracked 115 off 106 balls in a red-ball game against the touring West Indians in November and has continued in the same vein in the Big Bash.

His last five innings have produced scores of 58, 65 (off just 32 balls against the Hurricanes), 16, 42 and 33 not out and he is a tempting price to top-score for the Thunder.
