Super Kings the pick to deny Kolkata Knight Riders
Chennai made winning start after IPL ban
Indian Premier League
Sky Sports Cricket/Main Event, 3.30pm Tuesday
Confidence will be high in both camps after they won their opening IPL fixtures but home side Chennai Super Kings are fancied to have the edge over Kolkata Knight Riders.
Chennai were delighted to resume after a two-year ban with a last-ball road victory in Mumbai with Dwayne Bravo bowling a tight spell before smashing 68 off 30 balls.
With Shane Watson and MS Dhoni in their side, the Super Kings are not short of match-changing performers and their victory came despite Dhoni falling for just five.
The hamstring injury that has ruled out all-rounder Kedar Jadhav is a blow but the home team will have the benefit of a loud crowd on their side.
Kolkata impressed in their upset of Royal Challengers Bangalore, with Sunil Narine playing a starring role, hitting a 19-ball half-century.
The losses of Gautam Gambhir, who is now with Delhi, and Mitchell Starc to injury did not prove insurmountable in their opener but it may be hard for them to raise their game to that level again.
