Preview

Zimbabwe claimed a stunning one-run win over Pakistan at the T20 World Cup on Thursday, defending a target of just 131, and they should be backed to defeat an underwhelming Bangladesh side in Brisbane.

The Tigers lost all five of their Super 12 matches at last year's World Cup in the UAE and their only win in their last six T20 internationals was a scrappy nine-run victory over the Netherlands on Monday.

Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh 2-1 in a home T20 series in August and produced a brilliant bowling display in this week's dramatic win over Pakistan.

Bangladesh were utterly outclassed by South Africa in a 104-run rout on Thursday and their T20 batting line-up lacks power or consistency.

Pakistan have been on the wrong end of a couple of remarkable results at this World Cup and they will hope for a more straightforward contest against the Netherlands at Perth's Optus Stadium.

Babar Azam's men, rated fourth-favourites by most bookmakers before the tournament began, failed to defend 28 off the final eight balls of their clash with India before a desperate batting effort against Zimbabwe.

They should be too strong for the Dutch but Netherlands opener Max O'Dowd, who has scored ten fifties and a century in 54 T20 internationals, could prosper on a pacy Perth pitch.

Most of O'Dowd's big scores have come against weaker opponents than Pakistan but he made 71 not out against Sri Lanka in the first group stage of this tournament and cracked 16 off ten balls against India on Thursday, when teammate Tim Pringle top-scored with just 20.
